Every Foxfire install also includes an ATM-style redemption kiosk (the GenMega Universal Kiosk) where a player redeems their ticket for their prize. The kiosk has its own footprint of about 2 ft by 2 ft. Add the kiosk to the pair of machines and a standard Foxfire install needs about 6 ft by 2 ft of floor, roughly 12 square feet, for the equipment alone. This player zone sits between the machine and whatever is behind it, and it is a separate measurement from the equipment's own footprint.

Skip this zone and the install looks like it fits on paper while actually crowding a walkway or a neighboring table every time someone plays. It is the step owners miss most, because a tape measure on the equipment alone answers the wrong question.

What clearance do walkways and accessibility rules require?

Behind the player zone, plan for the walkway your staff and guests already use, plus the clearance the law sets for any accessible route. The 2010 ADA Standards for Accessible Design set a minimum continuous clear width of 36 inches for accessible routes (U.S. Access Board, 2010 ADA Standards, Chapter 4: Accessible Routes).

That is a description of the federal standard, not advice about your specific building. If a machine and its player zone would narrow a path that serves as an accessible route below that 36 inch minimum, the placement does not work there regardless of how much open floor looks available. Confirm your own layout against the standard, or with your local building official, before you commit to a spot.

What power does a game machine need?

A Foxfire machine runs on a standard 120V wall outlet, the same as everyday bar equipment, so no special electrical work is typically needed.

That means power is rarely the reason a placement fails. It is still worth checking before you commit a spot: confirm the nearest outlet is free, not shared with a POS terminal or a beer cooler on the same circuit, and that the cord run does not cross the walkway or the accessible route you just measured.

Where in the bar should the install go?

The strongest spot has three things at once: sightlines from the bar so staff can see it without walking over, a free outlet within cord reach, and enough total clearance for the two machines, the redemption kiosk, the player zone, and the walkway without touching an accessible route. A corner within view of the register usually beats a spot tucked out of sight, even if the out of sight spot has more open floor.

What spots should you rule out?

Rule out any spot where the machines, the kiosk, or the player zone would narrow a fire exit path, a required accessible route, or the only aisle staff use to run drinks. Also rule out a spot with no outlet within reach, since running an extension cord across a walkway creates its own hazard. A dead corner that fails on power or clearance is not actually free space.
