Foxfire Is Not a
Slot Machine
A slot machine pays you for an unknown, random result. Foxfire is a predetermined-outcome video game: every outcome is visible before a single dollar goes in, chance is removed, and the system is independently certified at the source-code level by Eclipse Compliance Testing.
"This device is not a slot machine."
One Word: Chance
Gambling means paying for an unknown outcome. A slot machine generates a random result the moment you commit your money. Foxfire shows you the result first, so there is nothing random left to pay for.
How They Compare
The same three-element gambling test applies to both. The difference is whether chance is present.
| Traditional Slot Machine | Foxfire | |
|---|---|---|
| Outcome Determination | Random. The result is generated at the moment of play and cannot be known beforehand. | Predetermined and visible. Every outcome exists before play and is shown to the player before money is inserted. |
| Element of Chance | Present. Paying for an unknown result is the legal definition of chance. | Removed. With the outcome known in advance, chance is gone, so the gambling definition is not met. |
| Legal Classification | Gambling device. Meets prize, chance, and consideration. Requires a gaming license. | Predetermined-outcome video game. Independently certified at the source-code level by Eclipse Compliance Testing. |
| Cost to Venue | Purchase or lease. Venues typically buy or lease the cabinets and absorb upkeep. | $0. Free install, maintenance included, with monthly payouts to the venue. |
| Who It Is For | Licensed gaming venues in permitted jurisdictions only. | Everyday high-traffic businesses: bars, clubs, hotels, gas stations, convenience stores, social and veteran clubs, laundromats. |
| Track Record | Regulated as a gambling device wherever it operates. | Zero legal incidents across our installed base. Documentation ships with every installation. |

Common Objections
Is this just a slot machine?
No. A slot machine produces a random result that you pay for without knowing the outcome. Foxfire is a predetermined-outcome video game. Every outcome is visible to the player before any money is inserted, so there is no random result to bet on. Eclipse Compliance Testing reviewed the source code and signed off: this device is not a slot machine.
Is it legal?
Foxfire is independently certified at the source-code level by Eclipse Compliance Testing, the same independent laboratory trusted to certify regulated gaming systems. Across our installed base there have been zero legal incidents, and the documentation confirming legal classification ships with every installation.
How is chance removed?
Every outcome is set before play and shown to the player before money is inserted. There is no random number generation deciding results. Gambling requires three elements: prize, chance, and consideration. Foxfire keeps the prize and the consideration but removes chance entirely, which is why it is classified as a predetermined-outcome video game rather than gambling.
What does it cost my venue?
Nothing. Install is free, maintenance is included, and you receive monthly payouts. There is no purchase or lease, which is the opposite of the traditional slot machine model.
